Madhumita Sarkar Guha, born in Kolkata, raised across India has imbibed the diverse cultural offerings of this vast craft-rich country. Having topped her school, she opted for design studies post her graduation from Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata. She apprenticed at a few well-known design firms across the country including Godrej and Boyce Ltd. and then in 2003, she, along with her husband, set up a premium design studio of Interior Architecture in Kolkata - ‘ SubhAAkritee’. During this course of time, she was chosen to be a part of the Goldman Sachs 10000 Women Worldwide initiative and was coached in Business Studies from ISB, Hyderabad. She has also been regularly up-skilling herself from premier design institutions like NID, Ahmadabad. Around 2013 she realized the dearth of the availability of ‘ Hand-woven Hand embellished ‘ Home Décor Textiles for her projects, in and around Kolkata. Sensing an opportunity, she delved into the research of the rich tradition and production of the handmade textiles of Bengal.

Luxe Living came into existence in 2016, with the purpose of assimilating and presenting the plethora of handcrafted textiles to a global audience. It is a 100% woman-owned and managed business entity. It is a manufacturing exporting company. It abides by the UN Sustainable Goals. Today Luxe Living proudly exports its exclusive range of Handwoven hand-embellished fabrics, Resort-wear garments, and fashion accessories like scarves, stoles, belts, Home linens, cushions, kitchen linen, table linens and bath towels to countries in Europe, South America, USA, Japan and the Middle East.

Madhumita has yet again qualified to being a part of the GS-ISB Ambassadors Program and was recently felicitated by The Ministry of MSME, Government of India, as an ‘ Enterprising Woman of the Year 2021 ‘ by the honorable Minister, Shri. Nitin Gadkari Ji, on International Woman’s Day, 8 th March at New Delhi.

Luxe Living with its ‘partners of the looms ‘ and the ‘ artisans of the crafts ‘ offers an unparalleled conglomeration of craft techniques like Jamdani – the unique extra weft weaving technique of Bengal, double dobby weaving, jacquard weaving, double cloth weaving few of our specialties apart from the simple hand spun handloom fabrics ( khadi ) that we are the largest producers of, in Eastern India. Fabric printing techniques like Block, Screen, Spray, and Hand paint including quirky batik and shibori styles are our forte. We also work with surface ornamentation methodologies like Kantha embroidery, appliqué, tribal embroidery, crochet lacing etc.

We have been hand dyeing our yarns since inception, using azo- free dye stuffs with guaranteed color fastness. We are capable of doing natural dyeing as well on sustainably sourced organic yarns.

We primarily work with pure natural yarns of cotton, silk, linen, wool and some naturally derived fibers like banana bamboo blended yarns.

Our product offerings include fashion accessories like shawls, stoles, scarves, fabric tie belts for women and silk pocket squares for men.

The Resort wear range of garments we produce uses this exclusive range of base fabrics. These are primarily beach cover-ups, kaftans, comfy day dresses and loungewear. Our chic khadi and ikkat kantha jackets are the latest additions.

In our Home décor segment, we offer a classy range of Kantha throws and quilts, hand embroidered and batik cushions, table cloths, napkins and placemats, bath and kitchen towels of soft pure khadi.
