International Tie

International Tie is a family-run headwear brand proudly based in Madison, Wisconsin. Our customers mean everything to us, and we take pride in creating thoughtfully designed, premium flag hats that allow individuals to express identity, unity, and personal values.

Each of our headwear collections is crafted with attention to detail, quality materials, and timeless style-built to be worn every day, not just on special occasions. Whether you’re drawn to subtle symbolism or bold representation, International Tie offers headwear designed to connect people through shared pride and purpose.

Working in corporate America, we chose to regularly wear our Chicago tie to work and various meetings. People were interested and always found a reason to comment on our custom tie, including random people on the street. We discovered that it was a great conversation starter in an otherwise sterile environment.

But we realized something more important-we like hats, so why not put the flag on a cool trucker snapback? With that, International Tie evolved from, well, ties to hats. We started with the Chicago flag hat, but soon expanded to state flags, country flags, and many others. Despite the name “International Tie,” we moved into hats and no longer sell ties.

In a short time, we grew from a boutique tie shop to designing more than 100 hat styles that have been shipped all over the world. We were founded in Chicago as a side hustle, but as the business expanded, operations moved from Chicago to St. Louis, then to the Bay Area in California, and finally to Madison, Wisconsin, where we are currently building out our production facilities.

To date, we estimate that we have sold more than 300,000 hats. In 2021, International Tie also transitioned from a small side hustle into our full-time business, supported by a dedicated and growing team.
